lesson image

In this lesson, children draw haystacks different distances away from the viewer. Note that closer haystacks are drawn larger with thicker strokes and farther haystacks are drawn smaller with lighter strokes. Also note that the tops of all haystacks touch the horizon line. The instructor demonstrates each drawing and directs children to copy the drawings. Children should practice these drawings over the week.

  1. Using a horizon line, draw 3 haystacks various distances away.
  2. Using a horizon line, draw 4 haystacks various distances away.
  3. Using a horizon line, draw 5 haystacks various distances away.
  4. Using a horizon line, draw 7 haystacks various distances away, with at least 2 overlapping.
  5. Using a horizon line, draw 9 haystacks various distances away, with at least 3 overlapping.
